I received another early reviewer book from LibraryThing. This one was shipped directly from the Author, complete with Autograph, business card, and a book mark from the publisher. I admit, I was overwhelmed at the personal touch. Read the rest of this entry »

This is not an early reviewer book, but as I recently finished it, I thought I would provide a review. Dragons of the Highlord Skies, written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman was a Christmas present from Kris and Sandy. It was a quick read considering the page count. It took me around a week to read.
The missing adventure! The lost chronicles are the stories that fall in between the Dragonlance Chronicles. This one takes place between Dragons of Winter Night, and Dragons of Spring Dawning, and encompass the struggle to obtain the dragon orb, and the politics and goings on in the Dark Queen’s forces.
I highly recommend this book.
Once again, I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of the book Frakenstein: The Graphic Novel by Mary Shelley. Below is my review of the book. As a teaser, I received notice I have another on the way as well!
This book is a wonderful representation of Mary Shelley’s original novel, in graphic form and I found the story to be just as engaging as the original. It has been a long time since I read the original, so I can’t speak to how true to the novel it was. For those who don’t know, the story of Frankenstein is a story about a scientist, who sets out to create life. His success takes the form of a gruesome monster, who when rejected by society becomes violent, and begins to torment his creator. I recommend both the Graphic Novel and the original as good reads!
A flash fiction I wrote.
Come Again
by Rick Runowski
Ted slipped his arm through the small hole Ford left for the removal of the oil filter. He silently cursed the manufacturer as a small cut opened on his arm. The old Mustang was left to him by his grandfather when he died last year. Since that day, he was a man with a mission. His first goal was to get the engine running, then he would turn his attention on the interior. While turning the small bolt that held the oil in place, he imagined the finished product. A black body, with red highlights. He was planning on tinting the windows, and refinishing the seats. From his pocket, Will Smith began to sing the song Bad Boys, and Ted muttered under his breath. He quickly pulled his hand out from the insides of the car, and sliding out from underneath, began cleaning off his hands quickly.

I managed to score an advanced copy of “Black Ships” a novel by what I believe to be an up and coming best seller. I thought I would share my review with you all.
Black Ships by Jo Graham is an amazing book! I would recommend it to anyone.
I am not normally a fan of historical Fiction, however the writing felt more like fantasy than history. The story took me in almost at once. In it we follow the Walusans, also known as simply the People on an epic journey from a home that was destroyed in a war into a future full of unknowns. I truly believe there is something for everyone in this book. Intrigue, War, Love, Gods, Princes, Sacrifice, Evil, and even a bit of scenery.
